It was created around the 12th century and is written in French. The Faerie Queene is part of the famous collection of the books of the Translations of the Holy Virgin and the Saints. The aim of the seminary students is to familiarize themselves with the works of great authors who have affected the shaping of the modern world. They will read the famous novels and short stories.
The fourteenth semester will focus on the works of John Donne. John Donne is known to be the greatest English poet of the modern era. He wrote many plays and poems on subjects ranging from love and marriage to his own personal issues. One of the most popular stories is entitled Love in the time of Cholera. The students will read this story and contemplate the meaning of such a situation in the time of the Second World War.
The last semester will cover the work of Francis Bacon. Francis Bacon was the pre-eminent philosopher of the sixteenth century. He has become the basis for the philosophies that dominate the world today. The philosophy of the Renaissance was heavily influenced by the work of Francis Bacon. When students are prepared for their theological degrees they will be prepared for a career in the clergy or as a Reformed pastor.
